Customer Reviews
The perfect commuter car but much more than a, well, commuter car. Specifically wanted a 5-door hatchback, the Elantra GT was on the short list but then I stumbled across the 1.6L turbocharged N-Line variant. Holy cow.. Perfectly comfortable for long drives, rides well, comfortable seats, excellent controls (the dash-mounted multi-function display took some adjusting to), reasonable gas mileage, I'm typically getting 32+. It could probably deliver better mileage BUT, once I'm off the freeway, I put the car into sport mode and start standing on the throttle while looking for twisty roads. When the turbo kicks in, this car goes like a scalded cat. The suspension and steering are up to the additional power and the car handles very well and tracks very well. Unlike my previous car ('14 Kia Forte5 w/ the 2L), there is no dead spot when the wheel is centered. There is a fair amount of torque steer when you stand on it but forewarned is for-armed. Only two problems to date. I've had the check engine come on four times now for the same issue, ie, indication of a coolant system/coolant sensor problem. My dealer had to go back to Hyundai's tech department for an answer the third time the light illuminated, they recommended the classic "well...try this, if that doesn't work, try that" approach. Also, this morning, with 24K+ miles, the rear camera display started flickering. Both are covered under warranty but the repetitive check engine situation is annoying. Having said that, otherwise, no complaints. Great car!
