Used Truck Dealership

Although the idea of buying a brand-new vehicle is certainly a romantic notion, choosing a used truck is often a more practical way to go, saving you money while still ensuring you get a great pickup. In order to get the best vehicle at a terrific price, however, it is important that you choose the right used truck dealership: one that always puts your needs first and offers a fantastic selection of models for you to choose from. There are a lot of different places where you can buy a used truck, but the right dealer will ensure you get a great experience and will be there when you need them for many years to come.

Here at CBS Quality Cars, we are proud to offer an amazing selection of pre-owned models for you to choose from, with great trucks in excellent condition. Our friendly and knowledgeable salespeople will listen to everything you are looking for, answer all of your questions, and work with you to ensure you get just the right truck. Whether you know exactly what you need, or you are just getting started with shopping and feel overwhelmed by your options, we are ready to help.

Our Large Inventory of Fantastic Trucks

Used trucks are very popular right now. The high demand for these vehicles has occurred for two reasons:

  • Pre-owned vehicles as a whole are a hot commodity on the market, as they are good quality for a lower price.
  • Trucks are known for maintaining their value after many years and remaining in good condition after many miles.

Put that together, and the used truck is really the belle of the ball at the moment (and we think it will stay that way). So if you’re looking for a used truck dealership, you’re looking in the right place, and we hope you’ll visit us at CBS Quality Cars.

We have an expansive collection of used trucks in excellent condition from the brands you know and trust, like GMC, Ram, Chevrolet, Ford, and others. Our selection typically contains trucks from a wide range of model years, and we have used trucks at every price point. We also pride ourselves in offering competitive pricing, and when you click on a truck you’re interested in, you can be assured that you are seeing the real price. When you find the truck you love, our finance team is here to help answer any of your questions and help you find a great rate. We can’t wait to see you here and show you our great selection of pre-loved trucks.

While our inventory certainly fluctuates, we typically have hundreds of different used vehicles, all in great condition, available here at our dealership every day. Of these, dozens of them are used trucks for you to choose from. That kind of variety makes it easy to find a pickup that is perfect for what you need, but it can also make it difficult to narrow down your options. It helps to have a trustworthy salesperson by your side, and it can also help to have a sense of what you are looking for while you shop.

Tips for Picking the Right Used Truck

Although we cannot tell you which model is perfect for you without getting to know you and talking about what you are looking for, we can still offer some general guidance. Here are some tips to keep in mind to assist with narrowing down your options and finding the perfect pickup.

  • Start with the engine: With any vehicle, there is no better place to start than the engine, and this is certainly the case with trucks. A lot of models will have several engines available, so look closely at any used pickup to see which powertrain it has. Also, pay attention to whether it has a gas or diesel engine, as both are commonly available.
  • Consider the drivetrain: Most trucks come with rear-wheel drive standard and typically have four-wheel drive available. This means you are going to find both of these options as you look at different used trucks. Four-wheel drive is essential if you plan on going off-road or dealing with rough weather conditions; otherwise, rear-wheel drive is a great choice.
  • Look at size and configuration: Most trucks are either a midsize or full-size model; midsize trucks are smaller but also less expensive. The size class also impacts towing and payload, so this is a very important consideration. Cab and bed sizes can differ greatly between different used models. Crew cabs give you the most room for passengers, while regular cabs are more budget-friendly.
  • Look at towing capacity: This is very important and can fluctuate significantly between different models––even of the same truck. The engine, drivetrain, and other features can all impact this, so look closely at what a truck offers. If you know you need to haul a trailer or camper behind you, then figure out the weight you need to tow before shopping for a truck; this will help you narrow down your options.
  • Check payload capacity: Just as important as towing; you need to get a truck that you can load up with everything you want to take with you. Payload includes everything on the truck, including passengers and anything you put in the bed. Again, this can vary a lot between different models, with full-size trucks giving you more muscle than midsize.
  • Think about how you want to use it: This can help guide a lot of the other decisions you need to make, but consider if you want something to only use as a work truck or something to drive every day. If you want to go off-roading on the weekend or do some tailgating, then look for a used model with features that will help make that possible.

As we said, this is really just a quick guide to help you get started. Once you have some of these things in mind, then it is a lot easier for us to make sure you find the right truck to meet all of your needs.

Great Models to Consider

Although you will find a lot of different models when you start shopping for a used truck, there are a few common ones to look for. These are among the best trucks on the road, year after year, and they are great used options.

  • Ford F-150: The best-selling truck in America for more than 40 years, the F-150 is as impressive as you would expect. This is a full-size truck that can have some of the best towing and payload on the market, with legions of diehard fans.
  • Chevy Silverado: Although the Silverado name has only been around for about 20 years, it truly lives up to the Chevy legacy of power and reliability. This is another full-size option, and one of our favorite used trucks.
  • Ram 1500: Rounding out the Big Three of American pickups, the Ram 1500 is one of the most impressive trucks on the road. In recent years, they have been known for some of the finest luxury options on the market, with gorgeous interiors and advanced tech.
  • Toyota Tacoma: The most popular midsize truck out there, the Toyota Tacoma is well known for being a fantastic everyday truck. This is a terrific option for going off-road and a great choice if you want something to work hard and play hard.

Still not sure which one of these is right for you? We can help.

Understanding the Different Truck Sizes

When researching used trucks, you’ll come across several size options, namely compact, midsize, full-size, and heavy-duty. Understanding the differences between each one can feel confusing at first, but we’re happy to break these down for you. Each one is just right for a specific driver and certain tasks, so understanding the variance between the trucks is important in your shopping process.

Compact

A compact truck is the smallest of the categories and works best for a commuter. It's great for hobbyists who need to lug a lot of stuff for their work but don't necessarily need a giant vehicle ready for commercial work. A compact truck has a small bed and a modest engine that is good for everyday driving. The Ford Maverick and Hyundai Santa Cruz are two compact trucks to check out if you want something small yet capable.

Midsize

Midsize trucks are ideal for those who need to do a lot of recreational towing and hauling but don't need large amounts of power. However, they’re still good everyday cars and offer good passenger comfort. The Toyota Tacoma and Ford Ranger are two popular options in this category due to their manageable size, great towing and payload capacities, and solid fuel economy. Other popular options include the Chevy Colorado and Jeep Gladiator.

Full-Size

Full-size trucks, otherwise known as half-ton trucks, are going to have a bigger payload capacity than a midsize or compact truck. This is the most popular truck size as it has a good body size, exceptional towing ratings for most everyday tasks that aren't heavy work, and is extremely customizable. They’re typically going to have larger cabs and cargo beds, making them good for hauling the family around, and they’re going to have impressive towing and hauling capabilities, making them excellent work trucks. These won’t be as easy to maneuver in and out of tight spots as midsize and compact trucks. However, if you need a versatile truck to lug a lot of stuff, a full-size could be your best option.

Heavy-Duty

Heavy-duty trucks are full-size beasts meant for those drivers who use their vehicles for heavy work, whether that involves towing or hauling. They will come designated as either a three-quarter-ton (usually noted as 2500) or one-ton (usually noted as 3500). These trucks are not the best for daily commuters because they tend to get lower fuel economy, but that sacrifice is well worth it when you need power to get the job done. Common favorites in this category include the Chevy Silverado HD, Ford Super Duty, and Ram Heavy Duty.

What Makes a Truck an “Off-Road” Truck?

Off-roading trucks are their own species and deserve special mention. They’re going to have capabilities that your standard pickup will not, and for the right driver, they can be the perfect fit. An off-road truck is designed to go over rough ground. You won’t generally want to try to go off-roading with a truck that isn’t designed to do so, as it could cause damage to your vehicle.

There are a few features that make a truck a good off-road option. For starters, you’ll want to see great traction on the tires. While the paved road of city streets and highways is smooth and offers a good grip, the unpredictable terrain you find when you go off-road does not. In other words, it doesn’t have traction, so your vehicle’s tires must provide it. In general, you want all-terrain or mud-terrain tires.

Next, you’ll want your used truck to be designed in a way that makes the best use of your all-terrain tires. In most cases, that’s going to be a truck that has four-wheel drive. Four-wheel drive makes your front and rear axles spin at the same speed, which increases the car’s ability to capitalize on the traction offered by all-terrain tires. High ground clearance is also important because you don’t know when a large rock or other obstacle could come close to skimming the undercarriage of your vehicle and damaging it. These are just some of the basic features you want in an off-road truck, and many used trucks have special off-road packages or aftermarket upgrades that include things like bumpers, skid plates, and more.

Luxury Trucks

In recent years, you might have heard more about luxury trucks, and for those willing to pay a pretty penny, a luxury truck can be well worth it. While trucks are usually considered work vehicles that don’t have the bells and whistles of SUVs or sedans, more and more truck lovers are learning to appreciate some high-end amenities. There’s nothing wrong with wanting comfort and convenience while on your way to work or wherever your used truck may take you.

There isn’t an exact definition of a luxury truck; however, some things you might expect would include infotainment systems and technology such as large touchscreens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, Alexa compatibility, built-in Wi-Fi hot spots, and built-in navigation. You might find massage seats in a luxury truck, heated steering wheels, and adjustable lumbar support.

Many luxury trucks boast top-shelf sound systems, too, like those from Harman Kardon, Fender, or Bose. You might find sophisticated design details such as leather stitching, mahogany panels, and backlit dashboards and running boards. When you step into a luxury truck, you do not feel like you’re in a work vehicle.
